Arti Prasad, MD, FACP, ABOIM, CPE, is a physician executive and healthcare leader recognized for advancing innovative, prevention-focused healthcare strategies that improve population health outcomes, expand care access, and strengthen organizational performance. Her immediate past position was the Chief Strategic Development Officer at Hennepin Healthcare, where she led strategic clinical innovation initiatives focused on population health, chronic disease prevention, health equity, and interdisciplinary care transformation within a major academic safety-net health system.
Dr. Prasad previously served as Chair of Medicine at Hennepin Healthcare and held multiple academic leadership roles, including Division Chief and founder and Executive director of a multidisciplinary integrative health center at the University of New Mexico. Across these roles, she has built clinical and educational programs integrating nutrition science, Ayurveda, lifestyle medicine, behavioral health, and whole-person care into mainstream healthcare delivery. She has secured and led multi-million-dollar funding initiatives supporting clinical innovation, workforce education, community health partnerships, and telehealth expansion, including leadership of statewide Project ECHO programs designed to improve clinician capacity and access to specialty care.
A nationally recognized leader in Integrative Health and prevention-oriented healthcare transformation, Dr. Prasad has extensive experience collaborating with health systems, policymakers, academic institutions, philanthropic organizations, and community partners to advance scalable solutions addressing chronic disease, healthcare disparities, and evolving population health needs. She brings a collaborative leadership style grounded in strategic vision, evidence-based innovation, and mission-driven healthcare improvement. For her overall contribution to the field of integrative medicine and the board service, she was honored with ‘2025 Physician of the Year award’ by ABOIM.
Her experience in governance includes serving on the Hennepin Health System (HHS) Board as a trustee for 5 years, serving as a founding board member of the American Board of Integrative Medicine (ABOIM) for 9 years, serving on the American Board of Physician Specialties (ABPS) and chairing the strategic planning committee for 2 years, and serving on several community non-profit boards in Minnesota and New Mexico.
Board-certified in internal medicine and integrative medicine, Dr. Prasad completed fellowship training at the University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, holds Certified Physician Executive (CPE) credentialing, and is a graduate of the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) program. Her leadership development also includes training in transformational coaching and health equity–focused organizational leadership.
